Hildesheim: Fugitive criminal drags police officer into car | Area

Hildesheim (Lower Saxony) – A fugitive escapes, injures a police officer – and goes into hiding. Police spoke about a very dangerous incident that occurred on Saturday evening among dozens of customers.

At approximately 7:35 p.m., a witness recognized the 31-year-old man who had a warrant out for his arrest. As a patrol POLICE he’s in a busy parking lot in Hildesheim (Lower Saxony) wanted to take control of the situation, it immediately escalated: The man backed away and hit the leg of a 25-year-old police officer.

Officers tried to stop him through an open window. But the man he was looking for instead sped forward – and dragged the police officer several meters until he fell. Then the man sped off and disappeared. A search immediately launched was unsuccessful.

The injured police officer was taken to hospital but was able to leave. He is not fit for duty at this time.

It remains unclear why there was a warrant for the 31-year-old man’s arrest. One thing is certain: According to police, the man was alone in the car.
