The Neapolitan man was stopped by the State Police on suspicion of aggravated murder in connection with the murder of 19-year-old Marco Pio Salomone, which occurred in the early hours of yesterday, Saturday 22 November, in the Arenaccia district of the Campanian capital, aged only 15 years. The minor was also charged with illegal possession and possession of a firearm.
The investigation carried out by the Naples Flying Squad Homicide Section was initially coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office – Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate and later by the Naples Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.
The 15-year-old has been identified and has been sought by State Police since yesterday. This morning he surrendered himself to the police station accompanied by his lawyer. Investigators maintained strict confidentiality regarding the matter and did not reveal any details about the motive for the murder. Marco Pio Salomone, 19, was seriously injured by a gunshot to the head while he was in a car with three friends at around 1.30am between Friday and Saturday. The injury occurred at the Generale Francesco Pinto, near the games room: his friends immediately took him to hospital, but Salomone – who was deemed inoperable by doctors due to the severity of his condition – died after a few hours. The victim has a police record as a drug dealer.
