Snow in the Harz region attracts many visitors over the weekend. The first sled passengers appeared in many places. A number of hikers also took advantage of the beautiful winter weather with blue skies and sunshine to go sightseeing.
The parking lot in Braunlage was very busy, police said. The parking lot at the Torfhaus is also full in the morning. The first toboggan lifts in Braunlage and St. Andreasberg is now open, and the toboggan lift at Torfhaus is also operational and well maintained. However, ski lifts and slopes in the Harz remain closed.
The winter weather continues. “Snowfall will start to fall in the evening,” said meteorologists from the German Weather Service (DWD). Even on Monday there was repeated snowfall in the Harz with temperatures around minus 2 to minus 3 degrees. According to DWD, the snow will stick around for a while.
