A “court of worms”, guilty of having separated three children from their families, from their home in the interior of Abruzzo, among the trees of the Palmoli forest. A shower of insults poured down on the L’Aquila Juvenile Court and, in particular, its president, Cecilia Angrisano, who was the target of severe threats via social media. A complete witch hunt with addresses, cell phone numbers, and emails to track down the judge who signed the removal order.
An event that will probably have inevitable legal consequences as many people organize to take to the streets: the inauguration will take place on December 6 in Rome, in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities, in the heart of the capital. Meanwhile, from the family home where the minor was moved, children could be heard asking lawyers when they could go home, while the mother, who was allowed to stay in the same building, was “still shaken” by the court’s decision.
The media, and also political, noise regarding the ‘forest family’ has sparked inevitable controversy between those for and against, with online petitions and social commentary often turning to insults and threats. ANM Abruzzo once again defended the actions of his colleagues at the L’Aquila Juvenile Court, saying they were “worried” about the “media hate campaign.” In a note, the judges expressed “astonishment” and “regret” stating that, “in such a vexing atmosphere, government representatives insisted on delegitimizing the Judicial Authority”. And Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini also returned to the issue, expressing his solidarity with the family from day one, saying he was ready to go to Abruzzo. “I will do everything to ensure that those three wonderful children return home, into the arms of mom and dad”, the League leader wrote again on social media, defining the rule as a “shameful, dangerous and worrying precedent”.
From the family home in Vasto where the children now live, comes the story of the family’s lawyer, Giovanni Angelucci.
“I found them well – he explained -, they ran towards me, they hugged me, I picked them up, we greeted each other very affectionately, they smiled but with a little sadness in their eyes, the little boy hugged me, he was happy to see me again but the first thing he said to me was ‘when will you take us home?'”. But starting tomorrow, he will return to work on documents that will be submitted to the judge for appeal. “The first goal – said the lawyer – is to reunite the family, the second is to bring them back home”. For this reason, it is possible that we can decide to fill the gaps that arise from the court decision, starting from the educational to technical fields, such as installing a bathroom next to the house where only Nathan’s father currently lives. “Last night – said the lawyer – he was sick, he didn’t feel well, he was vomiting, his health was not good.
