A minor accident during celebrations for the third consecutive Davis Cup win for Italy, who beat Spain 2-0 in the final in Bologna. After Cobolli’s tough win over Munar, everyone was on the pitch to celebrate. On the podium the players took turns lifting the trophy amidst the cheers of the audience. When it was Simone Bolelli’s turn, the doubles player from Bologna was left holding the base of the cup, which came loose and fell to the ground. Flavio Cobolli commented with “nooo!!!” amazed and concerned, while Matteo Berrettini puts his hands in his hair. Then Berrettini himself helped Bolelli reassemble the trophy, “messing up” the two separate parts.
From then on the players, while continuing to touch it, kiss it, raise it to the sky, treat the cup with more care, picking it up with both hands and being careful that its base does not fall to the ground again.
