US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has softened the deadline for Ukraine to agree to the US peace plan. Although he would like to have a conclusion by Thursday – “whether Thursday, Friday, Wednesday or Monday next week” is of little consequence given the number of deaths in Ukraine. “We want this to happen quickly,” he said after consulting with representatives of Ukraine and its European allies. “Our goal is to end the war as quickly as possible, but we need more time.”
