Herbert Reul has been Minister of Home Affairs for NRW since 2017. Will he quit after this legislative session?
North Rhine-Westphalia’s (CDU) Interior Minister Herbert Reul did not rule out the possibility of returning to office. “If the voters decide so and Hendrik Wüst also wants it, then I will decide whether to do it,” the 73-year-old told the “Rheinische Post”. “I don’t think working longer hours is prohibited yet.”
Reul has been Minister of the Interior in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2017. Previously, he served as a CDU member in the European Parliament for 13 years. A black-green coalition currently governs North Rhine-Westphalia under Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst. The state’s next general election will be held regularly in the spring of 2027.
