Corrèze, Dordogne and Gironde have been placed on flood alert due to orange rain this Monday until midnight tonight, said Météo France, in its 6am bulletin.

“The disturbance caused abundant rainfall this Monday from the Southwest to the eastern side of the country. Significant accumulation is expected on the western slopes of the mountains and in the Southwest,” continued the same source.

Up to 70mm

Rainfall of 20 to 40 mm has been recorded over the last twelve hours in the Gironde/Corrèze axis. And in the coming hours, Météo France determined that “accumulations of 50 to 60 mm locally 70 mm or more are widely expected in the 24 hours”.

The increase is expected to occur at night from Monday to Tuesday. Rainfall will shift southward.

Météo France also shows that rain accumulation is also significant in Ain, Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie. Currently under the yellow “rain flood” alert, these departments may also move to the orange alert.
