Have paying users of Spotify, Deezer, Youtube Music, Tidal, or Qobuz been harmed by Apple’s practices? The consumer association Consumption, Housing and the Environment (CLCV) thinks so and therefore summoned the iPhone manufacturer, on November 7, before a Paris court, in a group action, a quite rare procedure.

“This action aims to provide compensation to all consumers concerned, we explain in the association. Subscriptions taken from an iPhone or iPad are 1 to 3 euros more expensive per month than those purchased directly on the corresponding streaming service site. » CLCV refers to the 30% commission (15% from the second year) taken by Apple on subscriptions made through the App Store app store.

Added to this “economic damage,” according to the association, a “moral damage”, linked to “deprivation of fair information and restriction of their freedom of choice”, because Apple has long prohibited publishers from informing their customers in their applications about the possibility of subscribing directly to their sites and thereby paying less.
