Millions of Moroccan supporters still await his fate. Victim of a serious left ankle injury due to Luis Diaz’s tackle during the Champions League match between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich on November 4 (1-2), Achraf Hakimi has been truly racing against time to return to the pitch for three weeks.
While the Africa Cup of Nations is fast approaching (December 21 – January 18), the right-back still hopes to participate in the inaugural match against Comoros, in less than a month’s time, in Rabat.
Followed by Canal+ cameras during his rehabilitation, the African Golden Ball 2025 gave his news in a report broadcast on an encrypted channel this Sunday. “It’s much better, the inflammation has reduced, now it’s much better, it doesn’t hurt,” he said.
“Much better, no pain” 🗣️

Between five and six hours of work a day
Although he still can’t put his left foot on the ground and continues to wear a walking boot, Hakimi has been working between five to six hours a day at his private physiotherapist’s office in Spain for the past week. “I am positive, I am focused, I continue to work hard to achieve the goal of achieving CAN,” admitted the Atlas Lions captain.
As a reminder, Hakimi’s estimated period of unavailability is six to eight weeks after the match against Bayern. Therefore, it seems difficult to imagine the Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalist actively participating in the group stage matches, which will take place in Morocco, from December 21 to 29.
