The man is still at large. A fugitive is currently wanted by American police after stealing $11 million worth of cryptocurrency this weekend, by tying up his victims in a house in San Francisco (United States).
According to a police report revealed by local media the San Francisco Chronicle, the incident occurred this Saturday morning at around 06.45 in an upscale neighborhood of the city on the west coast of America.
Kidnappings “clearly increasing”
The man posing as a “delivery guy” entered his victim’s home pretending to leave a package before threatening the homeowner with a gun. The perpetrator then tied the victim with duct tape. It is not known whether the victim was injured or tortured in the incident.
Police have not released further details about the suspect. The “fake courier” simply ran away and no arrests have been made publicly since the facts came to light. $11 million worth of cryptocurrency, cell phones and laptops were lost.

Crime story tells major criminal cases every week.
This incident follows a long series of cryptocurrency thefts in the United States this year. In March, a group of thieves almost stole crypto from influencer Amouranth. In May, two men, aged 33 and 37, were accused of kidnapping and torturing an Italian millionaire in his New York townhouse to obtain his Bitcoin passwords.
“Kidnappings of cryptocurrency investors are clearly on the rise,” Steve Krystek, CEO of PFC Safeguards, a private security company, confirmed to the Washington Post.
In France, the number of cases is also increasing rapidly. This week, two new people were indicted and placed in pre-trial detention, allegedly involved in the kidnapping of a cryptocurrency magnate’s father on May 1 in Paris.
