Despite getting a big “no” from the deputies, Sébastien Lecornu assured that he still believes him. The Prime Minister said he was confident on Monday, November 24, that it existed “There is still a majority in the National Assembly to allow a budget vote for next year,” during a televised address held at the Débotté in Matignon.

When the 2026 Finance Bill was approved by the Senate – with a right-wing majority – the head of government also expressed criticism of certain opposition: “There is a form of cynicism that arises and can result in certain ideological errors from certain political parties that hinder the situation”he said while quoting “unreasonable behavior of La France and sometimes even the National Rally”.

Faced with these stalled discussions, Sébastien Lecornu will call on political forces to debate and vote in the coming weeks especially regarding “absolute priority” like “security, defense, agriculture and energy” whose credit could not be checked after the failure of a vote on state budget revenues in the National Assembly.

“We will start with external security issues, military issues, defense issues. I will propose a vote to the National Assembly and the Senate in the coming days, maybe next week, which will allow (…) political groups to say whether they want to commit to strengthening our army or not. said the Prime Minister to Matignon.

More information to come.
