The king of reggae is no more. Jamaican artist Jimmy Cliff has died at the age of 81, his wife announced Monday, November 24, in an Instagram post on the artist’s official account.

“It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my husband, Jimmy Cliff, due to a stroke followed by pneumonia,” his wife wrote on social networks. “I am grateful to his family, friends, fellow artists and collaborators who have accompanied him throughout his journey. To all his fans around the world, know that your support has been a strength throughout his career”he continued.
