Rome, November 24 (askanews) – Pio and Amedeo are ahead of the Christmas film and from November 27 they will bring “Oi vita mia” to cinemas, which is also their directorial debut. This time we find Pio running a recovery community for children and Amedeo leading a nursing home for the elderly. At some point they find themselves living together under one roof, between forgetful parents and rebellious young people.
The inspiration for the comedy set in Vieste came from the comic duo’s visits to a real nursing home overlooking the sea and to a real community for minors located nearby. “We find a lot of humanity in these places, which is really a frightening humanity. Scary in a positive sense, extraordinary” said Pio, while Amedeo stated: “Nowadays teenagers have an arrogance that is annoying, scary in a negative sense, annoying, while old people are convinced that the world has now fallen to pieces, there is nothing more that can be done. A little dialogue is enough, what is clearly missing is non-dialogue and makes these two communities communicate”.
In the film, the two comedians from Puglia direct their idol, Lino Banfi, in an unusual role, considering that he plays an Alzheimer’s patient.
“Lino accompanied us while we were growing up, he made us want to do this work, because Lino radiated caution, and we on the other side of the TV: I also wanted to do like him. – said Pio – It was not easy to propose to Lino, who lost his wife to Alzheimer’s, to play a role like this, where he gave a lot of suffering. So Lino was really very valuable for us, but not only in this film, but in our careers, in our lives it will always be so part of us.”
