The Generalitat of Catalonia is looking for a new headquarters in Madrid after real estate pressure forced it to abandon its historic headquarters on Alcalá Street. The BOE published this Monday the tender notice for a competition, which had already been included in the Official Journal of the Generalitat (DOGC), to find a new property for an amount of 27 million euros before taxes. The Government has given itself until April to select the proposals presented.
The delegation, now headed by Núria Marin, former mayor of L’Hospitalet, is temporarily located for rent on Ourense street, with a surface area of 1,600 square meters. The intention of the Executive is to acquire the new structures, which want to be close to the Congress of Deputies for institutional reasons and for proximity to the cultural axis of Madrid in the area of Recoletos, Goya or in La Castellana for reasons of institutional proximity. The deadline for accepting proposals expires on January 19th.
The provision states that the building must have a surface area of between 2,000 and 2,500 square meters to house the offices of the delegate and the Government and the administrative offices; the Librería-Blanquerna Cultural Center and its three locations (the bookshop, the linguistic and cultural space, which includes an auditorium with a capacity of 150 people) and six optional car parks. At the same time, it is proposed that the property has a space for residential use of between 85 and 105 m2 which includes a suite-type room with bathroom; another bathroom, a bedroom, a living room and a kitchen. The apartment can be located inside the property or, at most, at a distance of 250 meters.
The Government lacks a budget and anticipates that the sum of 27 million will be covered by expanded budgets or new credit supplements. The price breakdown is as follows: maximum 2,500 meters built (with a price of 10,300 euros per square meter), for 25.7 million; 105 meters for residential use (10,600 m2) and six possible parking spaces for a price of 44,700 euros.
