The US Department of Defense on Monday threatened Senator Mark Kelly to take him to military tribunal a week after he, a retired Navy captain, participated along with other Democrats in a video calling on the US military to refuse to comply with government orders when they are “illegal”.
After the publication of the video of the Democratic representatives and senators, all veterans and led by Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin, President Donald Trump published two messages on his social network, Truth. In one, he said: “SEDITIONAL BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”
“This is really bad and dangerous for our country. We cannot tolerate those words remaining like this. SEDITIONAL BEHAVIOR OF TRAITORS!!!”, he wrote in the other. “Let’s hang them. GEORGE WASHINGTON (founding father of the United States) WOULD DO IT,” another user commented, in a message that the president retweeted for Trump.
The Pentagon’s threat to Kelly is clearly a repeat of those postcame this Monday in a message of due process and impartiality. Further official comments will be limited to preserve the integrity of the process.”
The Department of Defense (Warfare, according to the Trump administration) “reminds all persons that retired military personnel remain subject to the UCMJ for applicable crimes, and that federal laws such as Title 18, United States Code, Section 2387, prohibit actions intended to interfere with the loyalty, morale, good order, and discipline of the armed forces. Any violations will be addressed through appropriate legal channels.”
