Before the debate on the hemicycle began, the Finance Committee – specifically its president Claude Raynal (Socialists, Ecologists and Republicans) and general budget rapporteur Jean-François Husson (Les Républicains) – held a press conference on Monday, November 24 to present the measures unanimously supported by its members.
And first, meeting the deficit target set by the government of 4.7% of GDP in 2026. “The target (…) must be maintained”the Budget rapporteur insisted, refuting the Senate’s image “careful accountant” and instead praise the blessed company “desire to propose ways to improve accounts”.
