Court dismisses lawsuit against James Comey and Letitia James

A federal judge has dismissed two lawsuits filed by US President Donald Trump against former FBI chief James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James. The justification is that Ministry of Justice illegally appointed a prosecutor in charge in the state of Virginia. The department appointed Trump’s former lawyer, Lindsey Halligan, to handle the charges in September after her predecessor dismissed the investigation as baseless and therefore resigned. Halligan had no law enforcement experience at the time. Therefore, federal judge Cameron McGowan Currie ruled that he “did not have the legal authority” to bring charges.

James expressed relief after the decision was announced. Comey reacted with satisfaction to the federal judge’s decision. However, he hopes this will not be the end of the dispute. That US Department of Justice have announced that they will appeal the decision.

The Department of Defense investigates Democratic senators

The US Department of Defense has opened an investigation into Democratic Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona for possible violations of military law. Kelly, along with several other lawmakers, has called on the army to reject illegal orders. The retired Navy captain could be recalled to stand trial, the ministry said, without providing further details about a possible complaint. “Allegations of serious misconduct” have been received against Kelly and will be investigated.

The conflict was sparked by a video in which Kelly, along with other members of the Democratic Party, asked them not to allow themselves to come under pressure from the Trump administration. “Our law is clear: You can refuse illegal orders – you must refuse illegal orders,” he said. Trump accused Democratic lawmakers of breaking the law and announced a crackdown.

The US government again requests the release of Epstein’s court files

The US Department of Justice has again submitted a request to release the grand jury files in the case of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The judge in charge of the federal court in Manhattan has in the past denied publication requests on the grounds that the information contained therein is insignificant compared with investigative documents already in the Justice Department’s possession. The ministry now argues that Congress has made clear that documents such as court records must also be released and is asking judges for an expedited decision. US President Donald Trump Last week, after weeks of debate, they signed an order releasing Epstein’s files within 30 days. Critics accused the US President of wanting to cover up his possible involvement in the Epstein affair. However, Trump denied having a close relationship with the perpetrator of this sexual crime.

Trump apparently wants to classify the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group

US President Donald Trump has introduced a procedure to classify parts of Muslim Brotherhood started as a terrorist organization. Trump instructed Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to examine whether the group’s branches – such as those in Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan – should be classified accordingly. According to the President’s Office, ministers must take action within 45 days of submitting the report. Classification will result in sanctions. The US government reportedly wants to examine refugees who entered the country during the administration of his predecessor Joe Biden. This is based on an internal memo signed by the director of US Citizenship and Immigration Services and reported by several media. According to reports, the document refers to around 200,000 refugees who entered the country between January 20, 2021 and February 20, 2025. Authorities will revoke refugee status if they do not meet refugee criteria, it said. Therefore, the application for permanent residence status is no longer processed in this case. Refugee workers criticized the decision as callous and traumatizing for those affected.
