This is a unique photo, with a focus on the health of prostitutes, offered by the Aspire study (access to services, health and prostitution), presented on Tuesday, November 25 by the Mouvement du Nid, an association that supports around 1,800 people who enter or leave prostitution each year. This supports their field observations of mental health “very degraded” from this audience.
To carry out this research “built together with the people concerned”The association is working with Fabienne El-Khoury, social epidemiology researcher at the National Institute for Health and Medical Research (Inserm) and at the Sorbonne University, accompanied by a trauma psychologist, together with her team and that of Amicale du Nid, another associate, in 29 cities.
This investigation takes lessons from this “women’s experiences” ; 258 prostitutes or “survivors of prostitution” (including 238 women) participated via questionnaires, and 45 interviews were conducted, from April to July 2025, with several of them and the social workers who accompanied them. Among the respondents, 81% had left prostitution, 72% were mothers, and 96% were foreigners.
