Stellantis introduces the Fiat 500 hybrid, a new model tied to the relaunch of the Mirafiori. Production started in November and when fully operational the Turin plant will be able to increase its annual production capacity by around 100,000 units. First deliveries in January 2026 For the launch of the new model, CEO Antonio Filosa arrived in Turin, together with President John Elkann and Olivier Francois, head of the Fiat brand. Present were the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, the Governor of Piedmont Alberto Cirio, the Mayor Stefano Lo Russo, national and local trade unions.
With the production of 500 hybrids, recruitment will continue in Mirafiori: in February, 400 young people will join the training plan, considering the start of the second work shift.
Meanwhile, the rebuilding of the Palazzina, the group’s historic headquarters, has begun in Mirafiori, which will once again be used in all its spaces by thousands of people.
Built in 1939 and home to the “control room” for the production of nearly 29 million cars in Turin, the renovation of the building is part of the green campus program for workplace transformation and aims to strengthen the roots of the central agency Stellantis.
The 500 Hybrid range is split into three body variants – Hatchback, 3+1 (which can be ordered from early next year) and Cabrio – with Pop, Icon and La Prima trim levels. Plus the Turin launch series, a tribute to the city that has always been Fiat’s home, is offered exclusively in Hatchback version.

Urso, ‘the unyielding Italian 500 hybrid icon’

The new Fat 500 hybrid car “is a symbol of freedom, as President Elkann rightly stated some time ago, a symbol of growth, a new icon of unyielding Italy. This is not just the inauguration of a new model, this is a symbolic stage. It is also for the model that we celebrate and for history”. This was stated by the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, at the launch of the Fiat 500 hybrid.
“It was from this Mirafiori site that the popular car was born – he added – the 500 Topolino, a symbol of the Italian economic miracle of the 50s and 60s, which embodied the family’s aspirations for freedom of movement, social democracy which was the basis of our Republic.

“One year after the announcement of Stellantis’ plans for Italy, we can clearly say that many steps forward have been taken. We are on the right track, on the path of social responsibility of the Italian team, as I expected today, when we celebrate 125 years of Fiat together.” “With the new CEO Filosa and his team, we finally speak Italian and above all, we think Italian. The production of the new 500 hybrids consolidates our production presence in Italy and improves our national supply chain” added Urso.

“Here we are not just celebrating a car, we are celebrating a method built through dialogue and responsibility between all institutional parties, with a union that represents and protects our workers, made of commitments that have been made and adhered to, made of a strong Italian presence both at the European table and in the industrial choices of the big groups, made of an Italy that has returned to Serie A, credible, solid, reliable, with a strong leadership that everyone now recognizes in us”.
From here, this city became a symbol of European industrial history. And from this factory, a symbol of Italian industrial history, our message begins again to Europe and the world: Italy wants to continue making cars, innovating, exporting quality, excellence, made by us in Italy, Europe. It wants to return to being an industrial power, he added.

“The next decisive date for the European automotive sector is December 10. We stated this unequivocally from Turin: continuing to err is an evil act. We will not allow it. If Europe does its part, Italy is ready to do its part.”
