Lecce, November 25 (Adnkronos) – “The Constitution establishes that the Provinces are autonomous bodies with their own laws, powers, functions. This is a provision that cannot be set aside. The Provinces, holders of this status, are still alive today, in the services they provide to communities and regions in unfinished transition”. This was expressed by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, speaking in Lecce at the Italian Provincial Assembly.
“The 2014 law – which was later recalled by the Head of State – intervened in functions, areas of intervention and procedures in anticipation of a constitutional reorganization that did not materialize.
“These dysfunctions, of course, concern not only relations between local authorities but also, and above all, the quality of services provided to citizens, the opportunities that must be promoted and not ignored, the rights that must be guaranteed in our country according to measures of equality. All this – underlines Mattarella – raises questions that need to be addressed with organic legislative interventions”.
