Exactly after 22 years it’s all over!

On 30 June 2004, Gladbach moved from the legendary stadium in Bökelberg (capacity 34,500 spectators) to Borussia Park (capacity 54,042 spectators).

For the 2026/27 season, the stadium at Nordpark will now officially be called “Ista-Borussia-Park” – the club announced this at a press conference on Tuesday.

Energy services provider “Ista”, which has been working as Borussia’s sustainability partner since this summer, will join as a name partner from the 2026/27 season.

According to BILD information, Borussia then collected around 4.5 million euros per year, and the collaboration with the energy service provider lasted for 5 years.

Why is Borussia selling the name of its stadium after 22 years?

CFO Stefan Stegemann (61): “We felt with Ista from the start that it was a good fit. It was also important for us that the name included not only the new partner, but also Borussia Park – Ista shows complete understanding.”

Of course the economy also plays a role in the contract until June 2031.

Stegemann, who remains tight-lipped about the exact amount of his income: “But we can confirm that financially we are in the top half of the partners in Bundesliga stop.”

Ista CEO Hagen Lessing (51) is also satisfied with the deal: “We are very proud to be the main partner of the stadium of one of the most traditional clubs in the Bundesliga. This partnership is a very exciting project for us.”

Fans actively criticized Borussia when the first rumors about a naming partnership emerged – as they were left out of the decision. This has now been solved…

Borussia-Managing director Markus Aretz (59): “Our plan was always to get the fans there early – unfortunately you can’t and shouldn’t discuss everything in advance. We did it later and explained our approach to them. We have a feeling that we were able to allay our fans’ concerns.”
