La Poste had to sort and distribute about 180 million packages in November and December, a 6% increase compared to last year, the group announced on Tuesday.

To meet this challenge, La Poste mobilized around “100,000 employees”, including “3,000 seasonal reinforcements” in this important period when Christmas gifts keep up with the ever-increasing number of purchases, and during the ever-growing Black Friday period.

La Poste, through its three brands, Colissimo, Chronopost and DPD France, is the leading parcel operator in the national territory, an activity that has become central for the group with the continued decline in the number of mail deliveries in recent years.

Colissimo, La Poste’s spearhead in delivery with more than 100 million packages distributed in November and December, sorts up to 40,000 packages per hour and delivers up to 5,000 per minute with different photos from this period.

But behind this impressive pace, there is one indicator that is experiencing a decline: the market share of giant companies. In 2024, La Poste will still deliver more than one in two packages distributed in the country. As of now, the group’s competitors are distributing more than 50% of the packages, according to a press release from La Poste in mid-October.
