Rome, November 25 (Adnkronos) – For Elly Schlein’s press conference this afternoon at the Nazarene, the crowd was large, which was a win. The people of Campania, tired and happy, were Piero De Luca and Marco Sarracino who received a pat on the back. There is the reformist Filippo Sensi, the brilliant Igor Taruffi, Alessandro Alfieri and the senatorial president, Francesco Boccia, who is ready to reject the Fdi’s actions regarding the electoral law: “But who said that with Rosatellum there is no stability?”. Chiara Braga with a red ribbon on her jacket, still does not realize that the sexual violence law agreement, namely the Schlein-Meloni agreement, is about to collapse.

All demo regions were present at the post-regional press conference of the secretary who, after weeks of criticism from the ‘noble father’ and internal fibrillation, could claim results and victory. Not just elections, but also politics. “The line of unity we have pursued in recent years is bearing fruit and is appreciated by voters. Therefore, we will continue to move forward with confidence in this line,” said Schlein. The secretary answered journalists’ questions and conveyed several important points.

Neither election legislation, a fairness referendum, nor a possible early Democratic Party congress will be a priority on the minister’s post-regional agenda. “Every day there is one thing: the attack on Colle, the electoral law. All that not to mention the maneuvers, the Italian problem, zero growth. We will not help them”, said Schlein, speaking to journalists after a press conference. Consolidate the coalition and determine the program. This is more of a priority for Democratic Party secretaries. “Meloni does not dictate our agenda.” And for those who claim that Giuseppe Conte has opened the building blocks for the program – but not the coalition, but the 5 Stars – Schlein is not disappointed: “Let’s see the glass is half full”. That is, it was Conte who said he would bring the M5S proposal “into confrontation with other political forces in the progressive camp”. Coalition program table.

For Bonelli, a program table should be held as soon as possible: “As the Green Left Alliance, we will propose a meeting between all opposition forces in the next few hours to stabilize this union and start drawing up a common program for the country”. Schlein commented: “I listened to Conte’s words as well as Bonelli’s. These words are welcome. Now we have to consolidate the project for Italy, we are not starting from scratch. We are doing this work not behind closed doors, but inside the country and for the country”. The secretary was also asked whether, given his choice of prime ministerial candidate, he would be willing to step down if this was necessary for coalition unity. The answer was unequivocal: ‘Prime ministerial candidate? Or we do what the right does: whoever leads the party who gets the most votes is the candidate. Or there is another way. I have said that I am willing in the primaries, to run in the primaries”.

In short, the first coalition party secretary is on the ground. “We convey that the calculations have finally been completed, the results speak clearly. In 13 regions the absolute vote was progressive coalition and the government was balanced, the coalition was even and the Democratic Party became the first party.” This, he stressed, “makes us say that this government is up for grabs and the game is wide open. We are in it, we want to win, we are ready to enter government in 2027 by winning its policies”. And it is not true that “nothing has changed in the balance: two regions have moved, Umbria and Sardinia, and we have won them. There are two more red regions”.

Regarding the chapter of the electoral law opened yesterday by Fdi, Schlein stayed away: “It seems strange to me that the right wing opened a debate on the electoral law when they have not yet found time to correct a maneuver that many people are asking to be changed. I will not help Fdi and Meloni who found out yesterday that with this electoral law they will lose the election. We are interested in the priorities of the Italian people, not Giorgia Meloni”. Schlein raved about the data, talking about ‘zero growth’, from the Pnrr that will end next year: “Why doesn’t Meloni fight with us for a new European co-investment? There is no answer, other than an ideological one”.
