Donald Trump’s special envoy for the most sensitive missions, Steve Witkoff, will travel to Moscow to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, “in the hope of finalizing the peace plan” for the war in Ukraine, as the American president revealed in a message on social networks. At the same time, Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, appointed last week as a key negotiator in the process, will deal with the Ukrainians.

“Over the past week, my team has made tremendous progress toward ending the war between Russia and Ukraine,” the president recalls in his message on his social network, Truth. “The original 28-point peace plan, drafted by the United States, has been refined, with input from both sides, with only a few points left to agree on.” The Republican did not say when the meeting between Putin and Witkoff is expected.

The American president also opens the door to future meetings between him and Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but “ONLY when the agreement to end the war is FINALized or in its final stages.”

To try to carry out the plan, “I have assigned my special envoy, Steve Witkoff, to meet with President Putin in Moscow, and at the same time Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll will meet with the Ukrainians,” he wrote.

Both will keep him and the rest of the American team involved in the negotiations updated on developments: Vice President JD Vance; the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio; Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. “We hope that peace can be achieved as soon as possible,” the Republican said.
