Zacatecas State Police arrested Diego this Tuesday Noa 29-year-old man, originally from the State of Mexico, held responsible for the murder of a man and a woman, and the couple’s daughter, a 15-year-old teenager. The State Prosecutor, Cristian Paul Camacho Osnaya, confirmed through a video uploaded to his social networks that the arrest took place in the early hours of this Tuesday, after responding to a call to the authorities about an episode of violence that occurred inside a house in the community of San Jerónimo, in the municipality of Guadalupe, just 20 kilometers from the capital.
According to information provided by the Prosecutor’s Office, the two adults were found dead inside their home and, shortly afterwards, the authorities discovered the third victim, the 15-year-old woman, the couple’s daughter, who had been kidnapped by the alleged attacker after fleeing the house. Local media report that after killing the two people, the man attempted to flee with the minor, presumably his partner, and a few hours later, when he had already killed the woman, he was found by the police. They stress that it was “a family conflict” in which the man ended up shooting the couple.
“I would like to inform society that at this time the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes Committed Against Women and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating High Impact Crimes are fully coordinated to carry out the relevant proceedings to bring Diego to justice. No before the courts and formulate the crimes of femicide and qualified homicide in the next few hours,” said Camacho Osnaya.
This feminicide and double murder shook Zacatecas, in the midst of the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and after the discovery of the bodies of seven people this Sunday, between the Zacatecan municipality of Villa de Cos and Santo Domingo, belonging to nearby San Luis Potosí.
An operation by the security forces of Zacatecas found the seven bodies at the border with San Luis Potosí, which coincided with the news of the disappearance of seven young people, originally from Sauceda de Borda – in San Luis Potosí – which groups of relatives of the missing had already reported several weeks ago.
The general secretary of Zacatecas, Rodrigo Reyes Mugüerza, also reported that a vehicle with blood stains was located a few meters from that discovery, in which there were four probable perpetrators arrested and who, presumably, belong to the Civil Guard of San Luis Potosí.
The Zacatecas Prosecutor’s Office has announced that in the next few hours it will release more information on the femicide and double murder recorded on Tuesday. Secretary Reyes Murgüenza also referred to the incident through a video, in which he confirmed that Diego N. had a romantic relationship with the young woman and that he was, in turn, the son-in-law of the two murdered adults. “In 2025 there is a 70% reduction in intentional homicides, compared not to 2021, which was the most violent year in Zacatecas, but to 2024, which is the year immediately before that. That is, we continue to advance the peace process, but events like this remind us that governments must do their part,” he said.
