According to police, 13 people were injured, one of them seriously, in a tram accident south of Düsseldorf early this morning.
A spokesman said the train derailed and the signal box may not have been installed properly. The driver was also injured.
Based on the DPA reporter’s observations, the tram broke apart in the accident. Some were thrown onto several overhead line poles. Operation continues. Firefighters are on the scene with a large contingent.
