The Minister of Economy announced on Wednesday that the ecological bonus for purchasing electric vehicles will be maintained in 2026 and increased to 5,700 euros. “I want us to continue supporting electric cars”said Roland Lescure on France Inter.
“We are expanding the car bonus next year. It will even be increased: if you buy a French-made, European-made electric vehicle, you get a bonus of up to 5,700 euros, developed by the minister. “Currently, the best-selling electric vehicle in France is the Renault 5 made in Douai. Let us be proud and continue to support what we call the electrification of use, so that we continue to invest in low-carbon and cheap electricity made in France.”.
After a sharp decline in recent years, and especially the elimination of the scrappage bonus, the ecological bonus for the purchase of electric vehicles was increased on July 1, from 200 to 1,200 euros depending on the income group, to reach a grant of around 4,200 euros for the least well-off households.
In September, the government announced a “a great added bonus” of 1,000 euros from October 1 for the purchase of electric cars equipped with European batteries, for “supporting the purchase of electric vehicles by households and the transition of the automotive industry in Europe”. This bonus is in addition to the ecological bonus which has been in effect since July 1.
