This year, the Saxon Library Prize was awarded to the “Georgius Agricola” university library at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. According to Minister of Culture Barbara Klepsch (CDU), Freiberg’s project idea shows libraries as a way to integrate the potential of AI technology into everyday library life. “Freiberg University Library provides a significant impetus for the future of library practice and provides a transferable model with national impact,” said the minister.

The award, worth around 10,000 euros, will be presented on December 12. “Here at Freiberg, we develop ideas and projects that meet the requirements of the AI ​​era in a special way,” explains Jutta Emes, Chancellor of TU Freiberg.

The Schneeberg City Library also received praise from the jury for its AI education concept for children and teens. The Saxon Library Prize has been awarded annually since 2013. According to information, from this year onwards, innovative projects and ideas will be specially funded.
