Turin, November 26 – (Adnkronos) – The 28th National Congress of the National Association of Civil War Victims (Anvcg), which took place from November 24 to 26, ended today in Turin. Michele Vigne was practically reconfirmed as national president for the next four years, a sign of confidence in the path taken and in the strategic priorities identified in recent years. The opening event, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Turin, we read in a note from Anvcg, was attended by Paola Frassinetti, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Education and Honor representing the Government, and Marco Osnato, president of the Financial Commission, representing the Chamber of Deputies. To demonstrate the closeness of these institutions to the work of Anvcg, Councilor Maurizio Marrone for the Piedmont Region, Deputy Mayor Jacopo Suppo for the Metropolitan Municipality of Turin and Councilor Marco Porcedda for the Municipality of Turin extended their greetings. The Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, and the Minister of Disabilities, Alessandra Locatelli, sent greetings, underlining the value of the Association’s commitment to protecting civilians affected by war.
The ceremony was enriched by the testimonies of several civilian victims of war. Also present were the students of the Germana Erba High School in Turin, who proposed a musical performance dedicated to peace, and the student winners of the ‘Memory and Peace’ competition, which is a sign of the Association’s strong ties with the world of schools and the younger generation. Over the course of three working days, delegates from all over Italy reviewed the goals achieved and determined future challenges to ensure increasingly effective support for civilians affected by the armed conflict. The Assembly also elected new national council members, who will support Vigne in the governance of Anvcg, and statutory body members, who are asked to guarantee the democratic and transparent functioning of the Association.
“In the last four years we have carried out initiatives that have concretely strengthened the presence of our Association at national and international level, obtaining very important results”, said the reconfirmed national President, Michele Vigne. “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the delegates for the trust they have once again placed in me: this is a mandate I accept with a deep sense of responsibility. Our history was born to give a voice and dignity to those who lack it and this commitment remains at the heart of our mission. Today, more than eighty years after its founding, we reaffirm that only international humanitarian law can guarantee the protection of civilians involved in armed conflicts, which unfortunately continue to claim innocent victims in all parts of the world.” With the close of the 28th National Congress, ANvcg renews its mission to protect civilian victims of war, affirming its historical role and willingness to face future challenges with firm determination.
