Felicity Ace: Fire on ship carrying Porsche and Bentley could cost Volkswagen $155 million | International

Carmaker Volkswagen AG will pay a heavy bill after a cargo ship carrying thousands of luxury vehicles caught fire near Portugal’s Azores islands in the Atlantic Ocean last week.

According to the Reuters news agency, the risk modeling firm Russell Group has estimated that the German manufacturing sector risks losing at least 155 million dollars (about 135 million euros). That’s nearly 40% of the value of the cars carried by the ship, Bloomberg reported.
