In Tenerife, 3 people died and 15 people were injured due to accidents caused by rough sea waves

On the island of Tenerife, in Spain’s Canary Islands, three people died in different circumstances due to rough sea waves. Very high tides, winds and waves are common on the island at this time of year, but according to the Canarias 1500 km de Costa association, which deals with preventing accidents at sea, Saturday was the only day with the most fatal accidents in the last 10 years.

In the north of the island, very high waves hit the Puerto de la Cruz pier, causing ten people to fall into the water: one woman suffered a heart attack and died. To the south, in the waters in front of El Cabezo de Granadilla de Abona beach, the body of a lifeless man whose identity could not be verified was found. In the municipality of La Guancha, another man fell into the sea and died in hospital after being rescued by helicopter. At least 15 other people were injured in similar incidents in different parts of the island, some of them seriously.
