After defeat at West Ham, Newcastle will want to get back on track in the league against Brentford. But it didn’t work – also because a professional DFB player other than Woltemade scored the goal.

Kevin Schade and FC Brentford were able to win the meeting of three players of German nationality: In his team’s 3-1 win against Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, the offensive player managed to equalize (56). Harvey Barnes had earlier given the visitors the lead (29′). Igor Thiago was the winner with two Brentford goals – first he scored from a penalty (78′), then in stoppage time (90’+5).

DFB star Nick Woltemade remains pale in the Newcastle side. He and his national team partner Malick Thiaw are falling further down the Premier League standings with the “Magpies”. Newcastle, who also lost defender Dan Brown due to a yellow-red card (73rd place), is now only two points ahead of the first relegation zone.

With the win, Brentford moved up to twelfth in the table (16 points) – the same points as Fabian Hürzeler’s Brighton & Hove Albion. Crystal Palace, coached by Oliver Glasner, is one point ahead of the “Seagulls” and “Bees”. In direct meetings, the London and Brighton teams drew 0-0. Crystal Palace will jump into a European Cup spot if they win.

Leeds United are still deep in the relegation battle. Despite an early goal from former international Lukas Nmecha (13), coach Daniel Farke’s side lost 3-1 at Nottingham Forest. Despite the win, the hosts remain second last in the table.

AFC Bournemouth experienced a setback. In a 4-0 defeat at Aston Villa, the surprise team of the season suffered their second defeat in a row after a 3-1 defeat at Manchester City. Coach Andoni Iraola’s team lost a place in the Champions League. Bournemouth and Villa have now each collected 18 points.
