Rietheim-Weilheim: Two children seriously injured in a fire in an apartment building – taken to clinic by helicopter

Two nine-year-old children were seriously injured in a fire in an apartment building in Rietheim-Weilheim near Tuttlingen. Police said they were flown to a special clinic by rescue helicopter. According to Tuttlingen district fire chief Andreas Narr, the children were injured by gas fumes.

The fire occurred at around 19.30. in a ground floor apartment in an apartment building and smoke quickly filled the stairwell. Firefighters rescued several dozen occupants of the home using turntable ladders and via ladders. Three residents experienced shortness of breath due to inhaling light smoke. Firefighters put out the fire. Police are now investigating the cause of the fire. Rietheim-Weilheim is located in the south of Baden-Württemberg.
