Bavaria: Bodies found after fire in residential building in Geisenfeld | Area

Geisenfeld (Bayern) – A loud bang and the semi-detached house burst into flames. Emergency services later found a man dead in the rubble.

At around 17:48, witnesses reported an explosion on Oberzeller Strasse. Shortly afterwards, fire broke out in a semi-detached house. Police, fire and rescue workers arrived in large contingents.

About 140 emergency services extinguished the fire. Some neighbors were removed from their homes as a precaution – including residents living in about half of the homes.

Bodies were found among the rubble

While the fire was being extinguished, the 59 year old resident was found to be missing. Tragic news broke around midnight: emergency services found bodies in the burning ruins.

It is still unclear whether these are the missing residents. “Steps to identify the body are underway,” a police headquarters spokesman said Upper Bavaria North.

What’s that Fire not yet known. Ingolstadt criminal police have started investigating the suspected explosion and the cause of death. Based on current information, no one else was injured.

Emergency shelters were set up for five evacuated residents. Operational measures continue. The extinguishing work is expected to last until early morning.
