Days before the tenth anniversary of the November 13 attacks, his name reappeared in an archive. Justice is actually investigating a suspected new terrorist project linked to Salah Abdeslam, the last surviving member of the Paris and Saint-Denis commandos. This procedure was opened after the discovery of the use of USB keys by detainees in detention.

” Salah Abdeslam is a symbolic figure. (…) But based on the alleged facts, he was not involved in the planned attack”said Céline Berthon, Director General of Internal Security, to RTL, Monday 10 November. “He is a still radicalized individual, convinced of the deadly ideology he has espoused for years and that is what drove him to take action. We have no reason to think that he was involved in any other network.”he added.

The investigation, which opened in January 2025, initially focused on the illegal possession of an object in custody, a USB key. On Saturday, Pnat announced that an investigation had been launched “coverage” to the offense of terrorist conspiracy with the intent to prepare a crime against a person. Investigations revealed that Salah Abdeslam was able to view jihadist content on the computer in his cell, according to close sources cited by France Inter.

Inmates are allowed to have these computers, but the USB ports are supposed to be disabled. During a routine check of the computer, which was purchased legally, IT professionals noticed that a USB key had recently been used on the device. RTL’s guest on Sunday, Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez assured that Salah Abdeslam “N’(is) obviously no longer has the computer, or this key.”
