Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría are crowned padel world champions in Kuwait | Sport

The Spanish couple formed by Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría won this Sunday the final of the first edition of the Padel World Cup in Kuwait against the Spanish-Argentine couple composed of Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea with a double 6-3. The second seeded pair defeated the top seed in a match dominated from start to finish, a result that allowed them to earn 2,000 very important points for the world ranking. The second-place couple earned 1,200 points.

Although it is not a competition of the Premier Padel circuit, this tournament distributes one million euros in prizes. It is designed to be biennial and alternate with the World Cup for national teams.

After the women’s final, the men’s final took place, pitting the two best couples in the world against each other and in which the Argentinian Federico Chingotto and the Spanish Alejandro Galán became champions. They succeeded after overcoming the pair of Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia, who, despite having started by dominating and winning the first set with authority, ended up giving in to the push of their rivals who won the next two.

Coello and Tapia gave their all in a packed Kuwait Arena and had no opponents in the first set which they dominated 6-2 in 27 minutes. Everything changed in the second, when the match was balanced until, after the world number one had wasted seven break points, a final break by Galán and Chingotto at 5-5 became a 7-5 that brought the final to the third and final set.

The future champions completed the comeback in a third round in which they imposed their mental strength and resistance. The 6-2 ended a two-hour battle and decided a title battle for first place in the world ranking, which Galán and Chingotto could attack in the Dubai tournament.

The next official tournament will be the Dubai Premier Paddle, which started on Sunday and will end on November 16th.
