“A patrimonial tax, for Forza Italia, will never apply: it is in our DNA, from President Berlusconi to today with our secretary Antonio Tajani. For us, a patrimonial tax does not exist, because the savings of Italians are the result of income that is already taxed. Introducing a patrimonial tax means taxing the same income twice, and is therefore a completely inconceivable concept for us.” This was revealed by Maurizio Casasco, Forza Italia deputy and head of the party’s Economic Department, as a guest on Tgcom24.
“In Italy, today, there are more than nine property taxes – such as the IMU, stamp duty, registration and mortgage taxes, taxes on real estate activities and financial transactions, donations and real estate activities, just to name a few – which originate from a long history of left-wing governments. Thanks to Berlusconi, inheritance today has an exemption threshold and will become a new taxation goal for the left. We want the opposite: we want to reduce taxes and we are absolutely against double taxation in any property tax. Even in the maneuvers under discussion, we are discussing the problem double taxation provided for in article 18 regarding dividends, and we reiterate our firm rejection, namely liberal, not state or communist as shown by the left today.”
“We must focus on investment in the interests of the business world, because only through growth can jobs be created and wages increase. Our prescription is truly liberal and leads in this direction: based on the competitiveness of the business world, to provide added value to our country.
The prescription of the left, which relies only on greater taxes, is a mistake not only for Forza Italia but also for the entire economy, because it generates further debt and losses for workers, businesses, families and the entire state system”, concluded Casasco.
