Steffen Krollmann, former chairman of the Frankfurt district workers’ welfare association (AWO), has filed a lawsuit against his dismissal without notice. “I believe there are no important reasons that justify this termination,” Krollmann told FAZ
Krollmann was given a termination notice in mid-October at his home in Salzgitter. This decision surprised many outsiders. The Presidium led by chair Petra Rossbrey asks for your understanding that “we cannot comment on this in more detail at this time”. They will not engage in any speculation. Especially after the “Era of Judges”, AWO felt it had to pay special attention and caution.
AWO executive committee speaks of “successful cooperation”
Rossbrey mentioned the couple Hannelore and Jürgen Richter. Until the AWO appointed Krollmann as a board member in 2020, Jürgen Richter chaired the Frankfurt district association and his wife chaired the Wiesbaden district association. Under the pair’s leadership, scandals emerged at both associations that are still being addressed and involving, among other things, excessive salaries and expensive company cars for managers.
Banker Krollmann has been recruited to restructure the Frankfurt district association, which is facing bankruptcy as a result of the scandal. A task that many believe he has completed successfully. The AWO executive committee also spoke of “successful cooperation”. The termination without notice was even more surprising.
There is speculation about a power struggle within leadership circles in which Krollmann has achieved too strong a position. He was primarily accused of violating compliance rules. According to information from FAZ, it is about a property on Darmstädter Landstrasse, a nursing home rented by AWO. Krollmann reportedly tried to rent an apartment there. He said he rejected the offer accordingly. There was also criticism of his leadership style and personnel decisions.
