The White House threatens the BBC. British public media have confirmed that they received a letter from Donald Trump warning of the possibility “legal action in the amount of at least $1,000,000,000 (865 million euros, editor’s note) compensation”. The US President’s lawyer demands a “revocation” no later than Friday, November 14 evening.
The BBC has been in the limelight ever since Daily Telegraph, Conservative Daily, published excerpts from an internal memo on November 3. Former independent counsel to the group’s editorial guidelines and standards committee, Michael Prescott, who left his post in June, criticized the editing of one of the investigative show’s episodes Panorama dedicated to Donald Trump, broadcast in 2024. Two different parts of his January 6, 2021 speech combined, give the impression that Trump incited his supporters to go to the Capitol “fight as hard as you can.”
