Ile-de-France boating enthusiasts will return to their big annual meeting. After a two-year hiatus, the Paris Nautic Show has found a new home port in the Bourget exhibition center for its next edition at the end of November*. Tickets are already in the pre-sale stage.
Held since 1988 at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center in the capital, the French Federation of Nautical Industry (FIN) event has lost momentum in recent years, shunned by sailboat builders. To bring them back, the important thing is to organize the show on the water’s edge like other European floating shows. To this end, FIN has announced that the event will be held in 2024 on the River Seine, on the island of Monsieur in Sèvres and in the port of Legrand in Boulogne-Billancourt, before announcing a further postponement of the event.
“This was tempting but in the end it didn’t happen on the River Seine because technical problems arose that couldn’t necessarily be anticipated, such as risks related to the current or the arrangement of the pontoons,” explains Christophe Vieux, director of M20, the organizer of the show.
The sustainability of the event was even questioned. “But his absence made professionals realize that they had lost a bit of touch with their clients in Paris,” he added. The capital’s customers represent 40 to 50% of boat users in France.
At Le Bourget, a new formula will be offered. Condensed over five days compared to nine days at the Porte de Versailles, the event will combine round tables, film screenings and activities each day. With this new home port, which is more accessible for the transport of large hulls, “beautiful boats” will return: catamarans, 18 m sailboats and riverboats.
Vendée Globe winner Yannick Bestaven will be present for the first three days. A total of 250 brands and 200 boats will be exhibited in the 40,000 m² exhibition area.
It is estimated that around 70,000 visitors, compared to 200,000 visitors at the Porte de Versailles. “Le Bourget is very easy to access by car or transport, but compared to events in Paris, this event requires travel,” says Christophe Vieux. The enthusiasts will be there but we hope to attract everyone. » To do this, a large space will be provided for river rentals and activities for the general public, such as navigation simulator baptisms and meetings with professional skippers.
