The blues derby happened yesterday. Three days later Bitter 1:3 defeat at Gladbach Cologne sways and dances again.
And how! At the start of the carnival on November 11. FC coach Lukas Kwasniok (44) has scheduled Jecken’s training session in Geißbockheim at 9 am and led his professionals onto the pitch in costume for a fun session.
Swinging instead of drunken mood. Kwasniok smurfed him Derby frustration just go!
The Cologne stars entered the training ground at 09:05 on Tuesday. First and foremost, defender Kristoffer Lund (23) as Captain America, former captain Florian Kainz (33) as the scout and Eric Martel (23) as the penguin. Kwasniok and his coaching team looked like Smurfs.
Cologne Coach: “We call people who don’t have a lot of skills flute smurfs – all they’re missing is really just a flute. But we ignore that because we’ve achieved something this season. It’s just a good joke.”

Schunkel’s unit only lasted about 20 minutes. Warm up with Cologne hits. Then the professionals start with their costumes. Everything is there, from Formula 1 outfits to Jägermeister costumes (Marius Bülter) and various safari or painter outfits (Luca Waldschmidt) to Obelix (Tom Krauß).
Today’s Cologne costume: Guard and captain Marvin Schwäbe (30) appears as the monster from the classic Disney film “Beauty and the Beast”. In the end, everyone was able to convince their coach creatively.
Kwasniok: “I know that I join a special and privileged club here and that it is part of the culture here. But that doesn’t mean that Carnival isn’t celebrated in other areas of Germany, not as widely – but I’ve been carnival-tested.”

Cologne takes the frustration out of the derby. “We’re going to have fun. We’re just going to follow this good old tradition and enjoy the carnival,” Kwasniok promised and noted the defeat at Gladbach: “It wasn’t a positive result, but overall so far this season has been a positive one and yes, we won’t let defeat take away our smiles, even if it happens in the derby, but it’s quite the opposite.”
Therefore, the motto of the coach and the team is “free tap”. Instead of making a joke, Kwasniok gave his children 5 days off in advance and therefore released them at the start of the carnival.
A slightly different team photo! Cologne professionals after Schunkel training on November 11.
“I’m a real coach and you have to be a role model and that’s why I’m on the road. That’s one of the reasons why I signed in Cologne – so I can take part in the carnival,” said Kwasniok. His mission to the team: “They are adults and in the end the score will be decided on the field. They are allowed to overact from time to time, they are normal people. If that is not allowed at the carnival, then not everyone understands the meaning of life.”
