A 51-year-old man died this Monday after being stabbed by his brother in Ponferrada (León, 63 thousand inhabitants). The attacker was arrested by members of the National Police and is awaiting a judicial decision. The victim of the fratricide suffered serious injuries from which he was unable to recover after being admitted to hospital in León due to damage resulting from what is being investigated as a family brawl that occurred in the house they both shared.
The government subdelegation reported that after the attack with a knife, the brother of the deceased tried to swab the wound and asked for help from the neighbors, who in turn called 112, although the arrival of the ambulance and medical personnel did not mean that the victim’s life could finally be saved.
Castilla y León’s 112 emergency service reported that at 7:57 p.m. Last Sunday he received a phone call informing of what had happened in the family house where they both lived, in Francés street, in the Cuatrovientos neighborhood of the city of Bercia. Initial information indicated that the attacker had stabbed his brother with a knife, who was losing blood and was helped by the attacker himself, who attempted to swab the wound and asked for help from the neighbors, who alerted the ambulance. The emergency room paramedics gave him first aid while the National Police officers arrested the suspect and transferred him to the Ponferrada police station.
The injured man’s injuries were so serious that he had to be transferred to the hospital in León to try to save his life, although after several hours of medical treatment he died this Monday afternoon. The police are investigating the causes of the fratricide while the accused remains detained.
