Return’Voice Senior‘, starting Friday 14 November in prime time on Rai 1, hosted by Antonella Clerici. In total there are six episodes to celebrate Italian music and the life story of the country’s most beautiful voice over 60 years old.
For this sixth edition, which gathered more than 2,800 applications from all over Italy, the folk show featured new faces but remained true to its formula, which was very reassuring to Italians. The big news concerns the cast. The veterans of the program, coaches Loredana Bertè, Arisa and Clementino, are joined by two rising stars of Italian music: Nek and Rocco Hunt, the latter paired with Clementino, with whom he will share the coveted red chair.
“I like this program because it cannot be ruled out. It is a public performance where every song tells a story”, said Antonella Clerici at a press conference in Milan. Then, words of great affection and appreciation to the coaches: “Arisa is unique in dealing with seniors, she and I get along well. Grandma is a great discovery: handsome, competent and always on time. Clementino is pure energy, he never stays still or stands still. While Rocco is more calm, together they are a wonderful couple. Loredana Bertè? What can I say? She is our mother, the history of rock and music”.
And Loredana Bertè herself, who was absent from the press conference due to flu, still wants to make her voice heard: “Now I am completely at home on The Voice Senior. This is a program that I really like and each edition is like the first day of school after the holidays: you meet people with whom you have shared a beautiful and authentic journey”.
“I am happy – continuing Bertè’s message – to again embrace Antonella Clerici, a wonderful presenter, and the coaches who have shared so many emotions with me. This year we have new entries: Nek and Rocco Hunt, two true artists, sensitive, erudite, it was a pleasure to work with them too. I love The Voice Senior because the music here is not just entertainment, it is life. At the center there is a story, a path and the courage to return to the game after 60, when no one knows what to expect. The program reminding everyone that we have no expiration date, and life can always provide surprises, if we have the desire and strength to dare,” he concluded.
The program formula
However, the formula that makes this program a success and, year after year, provides the public with unforgettable life stories and music remains unchanged. It begins with an exciting ‘Blind Audition’, a traditional ‘dark audition’ where the judges, their backs turned, listen to the contestants without being able to see them. Only their voice should win their hearts: in this case, the coach will be able to turn around to win over the competitors in the team. However, if more than one coach turns around, the participants will decide which team will compete. Also this year, in the ‘Blind’ phase, coaches will be able to rely on two valuable weapons: the ‘Block’ button, which prevents other coaches from selecting competitors, and the ‘Second Chance’ button, which allows each coach to have an artist who could not convince anyone on the first try to appear again, in one of the next episodes.
At the end of the fourth and final episode of ‘Blind’, the four coaches had to select 24 selected competitors – 6 per team – who would move on to ‘Knock Out’, the semifinals, where each team’s talents would compete with songs assigned by their respective coaches. In this episode, the coaches will always decide who will advance in the competition and only 3 competitors per team will access the spectacular ‘Final’ where the audience at home, through televoting, will decide who will win the sixth edition of The Voice Senior.
As always, there will be appearances from the episode’s ‘guest stars’ and the much needed duets between the coaches and the competitors, enhanced this year with the arrival of Nek and Rocco Hunt. Once again the stage of The Voice Senior is preparing to transform into a great musical celebration, where every story is a source of inspiration and every performance is a testimony that in life it is never too late to follow your passion.
