New fatal accident after refusal to comply. A 16-year-old teenager riding a scooter died in Tourcoing (North) in a fall shortly after fleeing from city police on Tuesday evening, November 11, France Télévisions and the Lille prosecutor’s office told AFP.
According to the first element of the investigation, “refusal to comply with Tourcoing city police crew” would have been carried out by this scooter moments before the accident, said Lille prosecutor Samuel Finielz. He “There does not appear to be a third party directly involved” in the fall, the young driver had “hit a pole while walking in the wrong direction and trying to avoid a private vehicle coming from the other direction”added the prosecutor, who detailed that according to city police officials, the agents “was approximately 150 meters from the scooter at the time of the accident”.
An investigation into manslaughter was opened and entrusted to Lille’s territorial crime division, to determine “the true circumstances of this accident.” Based on information from France Télévisions, the scooter driver who died in the accident was 16 years old, and he was carrying a 14 year old passenger who was injured.
