48 hours after the controversy, Radio France and France Télévisions fell silent. The two media outlets published a joint message this Tuesday correcting and refuting comments made by France Télévisions journalist Alix Bouilhaguet about the mayor-elect of New York, Zohran Mamdani.
” During (show) Political Issueswhere MP Manuel Bompard was the guest, Alix Bouilhaguet’s question about Zohran Mamdani prompted questions from our listeners. Radio France and France Télévisions responded,” the group said in a message published on X and the show’s website.

Both groups specifically picked up on one of the lines uttered by Alix Bouilhaguet during the performance. The journalist stated about Zohran Mamdani: “When we asked him to condemn October 7, very often he made a big mistake, he repeated that the problem was the Israeli occupation. » “We cannot say that he boot in touch. We can’t say he doesn’t condemn October 7, because starting in 2023 he does war crimes. On October 7, 2025, he again denounced horrific war crimes », recalled Radio France and France Télévisions.
Other comments regarding the “globalization of the intifada” or UNRWA, the UN aid and work agency for Palestinian refugees in the Middle East, were also corrected by audiovisual media. Instead, no word of apology appears in the text.
“The question is wrong”
After the show, broadcast live, La France insoumise on Monday indicated that it would contact Arcom, the audiovisual regulator. “On several occasions during this interview, the journalist made factually incorrect statements,” the political party wrote in its public letter.
Responding to messages from Radio France and France Télévisions, Manuel Bompard predicted this Tuesday in X that “France Inter and France Télévisions admit that the question asked was wrong”. ” But (they) did not announce any concrete decisions in the face of this apparent disinformation,” the lawmaker wrote.
Tonight, after 2 days of silence, France Inter and France Télévisions at the end of the article added a correction to Madame Alix Bouilhaguet’s statement in the program “Political Questions” last Sunday.

“Helpful but not enough”, added Thomas Portes, himself a rebel lawmaker, calling for “action” against Alix Bouilhaguet and “tools to prevent this from happening again”.
