A teacher-researcher at the University of Lyon 2 was accused of anti-Semitism after the discovery of messages posted two months earlier on Facebook, which called for “genocide to boycott” a list of twenty personalities, the majority of whom were Jewish. The League Against Racism and Anti-Semitism (Lycra) revealed, on Friday 21 November, this message from the professor of medieval history, posted on 20 September and since then inaccessible. Below mention “20 perpetrators of genocide who should be boycotted under all circumstances” There are 20 names, including presenter Arthur or actors Charlotte Gainsbourg and Philippe Torreton, along with their photos.

“Calls to boycott individuals constitute a provocation of discrimination and violence”, taunted Licra by accusing her teacher “make a list, like we did during the Occupation.”

The 20 figures targeted by the teacher’s message were signatories of an open letter addressed to Emmanuel Macron, who is preparing to recognize a Palestinian state in the name of France, to ask him to first demand the release of all hostages held in the Gaza Strip and the dismantling of Hamas. The text was published in Le Figaro on September 19.

In his message on X, Minister of Higher Education, Philippe Baptiste, “notice” this reaction and brought all his “support for the people mentioned and for everyone surprised by this list.”
