A man rented his wife’s murder apartment for more than 20 years to secure the crime scene

A grieving husband in Japan paid a total of 124,000 euros in rent over 20 years for the apartment where his wife was murdered. He hopes to find clues there about who killed him.

Love surpasses death: On November 13, 1999, Japanese housewife Namiko Takaba was found dead in her apartment. He had been stabbed multiple times in the neck with a sharp object; her two-year-old son remained by her side unharmed.

The case caused a stir: the authorities deployed 100,000 police officers and interrogated 5,000 people, but to no avail, as the “South China Morning Post” reported.

A man rented his wife’s murder apartment for more than 20 years: His former classmate turned himself in

Her husband did not want to accept this and rented the empty murder apartment for over 20 years. In total he paid 22 million yen (124,000 euros) in rent. The goal is to leave the crime scene untouched so that new clues can be found to solve the murder. He also refused to have his bloodstains removed.

In fact, according to “SCMP”, the case was reopened last year. The investigation focused on people close to the family. Finally, the man’s former classmate surrendered to the police. DNA testing confirmed that the blood at the crime scene was his.

“Every year on November 13th I feel anxious and depressed”

“For the past two decades, I have felt worried every day. I didn’t dare watch the news about this case. Every year on November 13, I feel anxious and depressed,” the perpetrator admitted to the police.

The man could hardly believe that his wife’s killer was someone he knew in the past. Throughout his life, he has shown his affection by sending her chocolates and letters on Valentine’s Day. He would never suspect that he was the culprit.

“So, the rent on the house was worth paying for many years. It was surprising that the murderer was someone I knew. I feel sorry for Namiko,” the Japanese told “SCMP”.
