The Ministry of Culture “should have been informed” about the legal action filed by the public companies France Télévisions and Radio France against the media galaxy Bolloré, CNews, Europe 1 and JDD, said the minister, Rachida Dati, this Wednesday. “This approach is not approved at all and is not even approved by the authorities,” said Rachida Dati when questioned by the government in the National Assembly.
“Legally, it is their freedom to choose to pursue this path”, but “the trustees should have been informed, could have been informed”, the judge observed, calling for “respect for the commitment of public funds in this procedure”.
Conflict between public broadcasting and the Bolloré galaxy
France Télévisions and Radio France have separately summoned three private media owned by conservative billionaire Vincent Bolloré to the Economic Affairs Court for “slander”, AFP learned this Tuesday from close sources, confirming information from Le Figaro.
This action comes after a conflict in September between these two media blocs, in which Bolloré’s galaxy media accused public broadcasts of bias and favoring the left.
