A 22-year-old man was this Friday sentenced to 12 years in prison by the Albi criminal court for human trafficking and pimping out of a cell where he was already serving a sentence for drug trafficking.
Specifically, he forced a 20-year-old young woman, a drug addict and suffering from mental disorders, to prostitute herself for six months in squalid conditions. Therefore, he had to pass twenty passes per day in an unsanitary apartment, without sanitation facilities or drinking water, was deprived of sleep and food, was given drugs, and was constantly watched by thugs.
“She has explained very clearly, her life is currently broken. She is struggling with many things. And unfortunately a sentence of five years or ten years in prison will not solve those problems. She will probably try more to rebuild herself, if she succeeds,” said the young woman’s lawyer, Me Maud Trespeuch, quoted by France 3 Occitanie.
“Completely drunk”
His accomplices, five men in their twenties and a man in his fifties, were sentenced to between two and four years in prison for pimping, while the gang leader’s ex-girlfriend, who arranged the meeting with the clients, was sentenced to six years in prison.

“He was called a secretary. But I think it was like all the protagonists in this case: it was a group of very, very young adults. Nineteen years old. Really drunk, in high doses. And who didn’t really know what they were doing,” said the lawyer of the gang leader’s ex-girlfriend, Me Myriam Guedj Benayoun, still according to France 3 Occitanie.
The main defendant continued, after being jailed in August 2023 for drug trafficking, to direct his network from his cell. It was an anonymous call that ultimately allowed police to find the young woman. Other potential victims were identified by investigators before disappearing.
